Celebration of Martin Luther King Sunday ~ Sunday, January 16, 2022, 10 am

*[Our in-person Sunday worship in the Sanctuary requires masks for all. Please continue to practice 6 feet physical distancing whenever possible.] 

*There will be NO Coffee Hour gathering in the Social Hall following worship due to a surge in the Omicron variant infection rate in our county. We will resume when the infection rate subsides. Thank you.

Message:   Sounding the Alarm: “The State of American Democracy”  Rev. John Song

Benjamin Franklin was walking out of Independence Hall after the Constitutional Convention in 1787, when someone shouted out, “Doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?” To which Franklin responded, “A republic, if you can keep it.”

The bedrock of democracy is the representative government of the people, by the people, for the people and the peaceful transfer of power. These two foundations of our democracy are being assaulted today. America has been downgraded from a democratic nation to quasi-democracy by the international watchdog organization. Switzerland has surpassed now as the oldest existing democratic nation that once perennially belonged to America. Pastor John will address what is going on today that threatens our democracy and what we all can do to help preserve our Republic.
