Message                                       “Addicted to Love”                                       Rev. John Song

This week on Feb. 14 is Valentine’s day. I want to take this opportunity to shed light on love dependency or love addiction. The Romantic novel industry generated over $1.44 billion in revenue in the last year, making romance the highest-earning genre of fiction. The romance genre had sold 19 million printed units over the last 12 months.

Are you romantic? Do you put your partner on a pedestal? Do you find yourself falling in love quickly and deeply? Is it a struggle for you to be alone and feel alone? There is an old joke. “What do you bring to your first date? A moving van.”

What is love dependency or love addiction? And what is a way to heal it? What is the path to liberation? How do you arrive at wholeness?

“Our deepest fears are like dragons guarding our deepest treasure.”
~ Rainer Maria Rilke (1875–1926)

“Stop looking for the one and become the one.”
~ Allana Pratt

““You are the sky. The rest is just weather.”
~ Pema Chödrön

Wear your favorite team jersey this Super Bowl Sunday!

The Super Bowl has become an American national holiday where families and friends gather to eat and watch the game. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford this luxury due to food insecurity. This Sunday, Feb. 11, is the Souper Bowl of Caring. Our church will be collecting money and/or food. All proceeds will go to our local Second Harvest Food Bank. There will be empty pots in the narthex as you leave the service. Thank you.
