Message                                        All Things RESURRECTION:                     Rev. John Song
“Did Jesus Really Rise from the Dead?”

During the Eastertide (Sundays following Easter), I will be delivering a sermon series “All Things RESURRECTION.” I invite us to expand our view and understanding of resurrection from a one-time miracle in the life of Jesus to a pattern of creation that the resurrection of Jesus revealed. This reality invites us to much more than belief in a miracle. It must be more than the private victory of one man but of cosmic reverberations.

Jesus’ first incarnate life, his passing over into death, and his resurrection into the ongoing Christ life is the archetypal model for the entire pattern of creation. He is the microcosm for the whole cosmos.

Thinking people through the ages, including Christians, have asked this pertinent question, “Did Jesus Really Rise from the Dead?” Is Resurrection to be understood metaphorically or literally? We will attempt to answer this important question this Sunday.

I Corinthians 15:17-22

17 If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 18 Then those also who have died in Christ have perished. 19 If for this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.

20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have died. 21 For since death came through a human being, the resurrection of the dead has also come through a human being; 22 for as all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ.
