Children’s Time: “What Happens When You Are Baptized?” by Pastor John

Matthew 3:13-17
The Baptism of Jesus
Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be baptized by him. John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now; for it is proper for us in this way to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented. And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.”

Choir Anthem: Sing to the Lord a New Song (Psalm 98)
by Music and Arr. By Don Wyrtzen

Message: “Here We Stand” by Rev. John Song

After the killing of Charlie Kirk, Americans agree on one thing: Something is seriously wrong with us. Mr. Kirk’s death at 31 symbolized for many the collapse of what they thought was a basic common-sense, need-not-be-debated American value, that people expressing a political opinion should not be shot for it. We may disagree on political views and policies, but we are united in our belief in the value of life, civil discourse, and mutual respect, even if we don’t see things eye to eye.

May peace be our resistance.
May love be our legacy.
May Christ be our hope.

“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”
~ Voltaire, an 18h century French Enlightenment philosopher, satirist, and historian

Matthew 26:52
“Then Jesus said to (Peter), “Put your sword back into its place;
for all who live by the sword will perish by the sword.”

Matthew 5:9
“Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called the sons and daughters of God.
