Laity Sunday
Sunday, October 20, 2024, 10 am

Laity Sunday is the celebration of “the priesthood of all believers.” This is a Christian doctrine that states that all Christians are part of a common priesthood and have direct access to God through Christ. This doctrine was a central principle of the 16th-century Protestant Reformation and introduced a democratic element to the church.

Children’s Time          “How Much Faith Is Enough”            Ms. Marieta

In the Bible, Jesus says that even a small amount of faith is enough to be considered righteous by God. In Matthew 17:20, Jesus tells his disciples the Parable of Muster Seed that if they have faith like a grain of mustard seed, they can move mountains and nothing will be impossible for them.

Choir Anthem             Walk Worthy (based on Colossians 1: 9-14)

I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious hand.”
~ Isaiah 41:10

Q: What is the difference between Pessimist and Optimist?
A:  Pessimist: “It can’t get worse!”
Optimist: “Sure it can.”

Prayer of St. Teresa of Avila
Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
Only God remains steadfast.
Patience obtains all things
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.

All shall be well
and all shall be well
and all manner of things shall be well.
~ Julian of Norwich (1342-1423)
