We’ll pause this Sunday from the Lenten Sermon Series to introduce the world of icons. The word “icon” comes from the Greek “eikо̄n” which simply means image. Therefore, icons are images of sacred figures and events. One of the striking characteristics of Icon images of figures is they look out of proportion to what they really look like. That is because these sacred images are not limited by the physical materialism but rather imbued with the Spirit, and therefore, spiritual beings. You will learn its history, meaning, and a place in Christian world. Pastor John will show some key icons and explain their theological and spiritual meaning that will deepen your Christian faith. Don’t miss this opportunity to expand your horizon and to open up a new frontier of experiencing the transcendent reality of God.
