Children’s Time “How to Make Good Choices” Pastor John
Special Music Sweet, Sweet Spirit by Doris Akers Solmaaz Adeli, Mezzo-soprano
American mezzo-soprano Solmaaz Adeli is consistently praised for the luster of her timbre, vocal agility, and her impressive vocal range, her repertoire thus ranging from Baroque to 21st Century music.
She holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Earth Sciences from UC Santa Cruz, and after beginning a career in the sciences moved to Austria to study voice.
Ms. Adeli received a scholarship to attend the Opera School at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz, Austria, and studied privately in Vienna and as an apprentice under Italy’s esteemed director Davide Livermore in Turin.
Ms. Adeli made her operatic debut in the role of Flora in Albinoni’s Baroque opera Il Nascimento dell’Aurora under the baton of René Clemencic at the Vienna Chamber Opera (2011). She has performed in Austria’s most prestigious concert houses.
Her broadcast performances include the Special Olympics 2015 from UCLA, the American National Anthem for the US Embassy of Vienna’s Commemoration Ceremony of 9/11, and a live performance of White Christmas alongside members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Recent activities: Solmaaz Adeli recently gave her debut at the Vienna Chamber Opera in Albinoni’s baroque opera Il Nascimento dell’Aurora and performs baroque to contemporary opera, concert, and chamber music.
She is touring her program Americana+ in the Bay Area this fall, then returns to Vienna to perform the new opera Alice in December.
On February 9 she will sing in concert in Santa Cruz with the Distinguished Artists Concert Series and the esteemed pianist, Alon Goldstein.
Message Part 2) “How to Make the Right Decision Every Time” Rev. John Song
This is a follow up from the last Sunday’s message as we go deeper into learning how to make the right decision every time without regret.
As we go through life we constantly make decisions, big and small. Some decisions, we are glad we made those choices. And some, we wish we could do them over. This message will be consequential for we only go around once.

“Real power is usually unspectacular, a simple setting aside of fear
that allows the free flow of love. But it changes everything.”
~ Martha Beck, the 20th century American author and sociologist.

but you don’t have the right to the fruits of your action.”

The Prayer of Abandonment to God
By Clemens Maria Hofbauer (1751 – 1820, Vienna)
I want what God wants
when He wants it,
how He wants it,
because He wants it.
