Special Music                          Heart of Gold                                Brandon Kett
by Neil Young

“Heart of Gold” was composed by Canadian singer/songwriter Neil Young in 1971. Neil was born in Toronto, Canada in 1945 and contracted polio as a 6-year-old which partially paralyzed his left side. He has had a successful career as a singer of folk and rock music. He is known for his high tenor voice, skilled guitar playing and harmonica. Neil has received multiple Grammy awards plus he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. “Heart of Gold” was his only song that became a number one hit. Brandon says “I’ve always loved the message in this song, “keep me searching for a heart of gold.” It’s not easy having a pure and kind heart in this life.

Message: America, the Land that I Love: Part 2) “Just Who’s Country Is It?”
by Rev. John Song

We are all immigrants. And immigrants built America. We will examine two key biblical stories of immigrants in the foreign land, the history of immigrants in America and how they made our nation prosper and strong. Without comprehensive, workable, humane immigration legislation from the Congress and the current administration, immigrant families are being terrorized, torn apart, and left to fend for themselves. God has something to say about that.

Exodus 22:21-24 ~ “You must not mistreat or oppress foreigners in any way. Remember, you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt. You must not exploit a widow or an orphan. If you exploit them in any way and they cry out to me, then I will certainly hear their cry. My anger will blaze against you.”

Matthew 2:13-15 ~ Jesus’ Family was Refugees: The Escape to Egypt ~ Now after (magi) had left, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you, for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.” Then Joseph] got up, took the child and his mother by night, and went to Egypt and remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet, “Out of Egypt I have called my son.”

40 New Americans Immigrants were naturalized
at the Prairie Creek Redwood National State Parks in California on June 13, 2025.
