Children’s Time   “A Legend of the Three Kings from the East”  Pastor John

Message             “Who Were These Three Wise Guys?”          Rev. John Song

“I was a hidden treasure and I desired to be known.
So I created the universe in order to be known.”
~ Rabi’a al Adawiya, the 8th century Sufi mystic

God created the universe, both seen and unseen, because God wanted to be known. There are two dimensions of life: the outer forms we can perceive with our senses, and the formless realm that makes it all possible. Although we humans tend to primarily focus on the outer forms to assess reality, there is at the same time an unseen and inward movement toward stillness and spaciousness—the primordial source of all life. Wise men from the East teach us that there are two sides to reality and the importance of seeing both seen and unseen to understand deeper truth.

Matthew 2: 1-2, 11-12

In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, magi from the east came to Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star in the east and have come to pay him homage.”

On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own country by another road.
